If you feel the weight of the relentless
Speed Limit pressing upon you,
Walk five under it for goodness’ sake

Let your eyes ache with the beauty
Of the images that used to blur
In front of the now-bleary windows

Press your head and nose into
Love’s loves until you smell all but else
And your heart shows pomegranate red

Instead of thinking about not thinking
about what your tears say about
The face they are falling on,

Let the pace of your feet feel the dirt
That is where you are, and don’t
Peel back grace for future mysteries

You are bigger, you are smaller,
Every breath is a change and a chance
To throw one into exile a while and smile

Because what your tears say is
also known by your soul and
The One who colored it with spirit
