Inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall.

When I was a child
I lived at the edge of the world.
Two chain fences and a wall much higher,
A paper airplane trapped in barbed wire;
When I was in grade school,
I decided the world is small
So I learned Russian, and I learned to obey
The guards in towers, the war ways!
When I grew up
The world shouted loud: “Let the oppressed out!”
Then the moon shone beyond bricks
And I understood their tricks.
When it was 1989,
The West placed half their hand in mine
Now I am free! Or is it too late,
For the wall in my heart remains
Oh, I must have grown used to this barren place.
